Met Gala 2015: Best dressed

With the Met Gala happening this evening, we’re taking a look back on the most iconic looks of the 2015 theme ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’. With so many incredible looks on display last year, we can’t wait to see what the celebrities have in store this year.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

The classic beauty went for an equally classic dress, but with an edge. The pink dress slipped around her body, but the shape of the neck and bodice added the oriental twist as it snaked up her shoulder. Rosie’s hair was scraped back, and her dark red statement lip added a vampy edge to her otherwise simple face. Unlike other attendees, Rosie’s simple dress allowed her beauty to shine rather than being overwhelmed.

Beyoncé

Practically nude except for a sheet of jewels, Beyoncé looked like she had stepped through the looking glass itself. The Givenchy dress left very little to the imagination, but as ever with Beyoncé, her body looked incredible draped in the see-through fabric laced with jewels. Her high pony-tail and power poses gave her incredibly feminine and daring look a real edge

Solange

Little sister to Beyoncé, but not to be outshone, Solange looked futuristic and fantastic. Her Giles Deacon dress was the physical manifestation of a pool of water, all blue ripples and patterns. It was a high concept, high fashion move marking Solange as a woman who isn’t afraid to take risks. Her face and hands popped out of the giant cyclical dress, making way for cute poses that added personality to the potentially overwhelming design.

Kendall Jenner

The Jenner/Kardashian clan are making waves in the world of fashion; something very surprising given their reputation and dress-sense only five years ago. Kendall, the model member of the clan, is marking herself out as one of the most stylish. Her simple mermaid green dress, fastened by side panels of criss-cross fastenings, was an understated look, reminding the public that the Kardashian/Jenner family isn’t all PR stunts and media hungry.

Rihanna

Rihanna’s yellow dress was a real love it or hate it moment. With a huge fur train, and the wrap-around detail, it evoked something of a dressing gown; but covered in ornate detail, of course. It was an incredible dress, turning heads and making headlines; typical Rihanna fashion. Interestingly, Rihanna was one of only a few celebrities to actually wear a Chinese design on the red carpet; something to be applauded.
