Met Gala 2016: Best dressed
On Monday 1st May, celebrities ascended those infamous red steps outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This annual event has become a tradition of celebrity one-up-man-ship, with the dresses getting more and more spectacular every year. This is our list of the 2016 best dressed, under the theme ‘Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology’.
Bella Hadid
Dressed the nines in an edgy black number, the little sister to super model Gigi, Bella is creating her own identity and forging ahead with an incredible career. Bella’s Givenchy number was paired with black accessories and black thigh high boots. The vampy style of her look was softened by the cloud-like bustle of her dress adding a sense of playfulness and femininity to the ensemble.

Cindy Crawford
Super model Cindy Crawford wrote the book on effortless glamour, and this year’s Met Gala dress was certainly no different. Covered from head to toe in mirrors, the simple silhouette of the Balmain dress made sure her look wasn’t too much (unlike some other celebrities’ outfits!)
Poppy Delevingne
Poppy headed for a more vampy vibe for the evening, sporting what can only be described as gothic Great Gatsby. The heavily beaded drop waist Marchesa gown dangled to the floor and could have looked messy or over the top, but Poppy’s swept back white blonde hair kept the look elegant and simple. Her dark merlot lipstick added that gothic edge to the otherwise glamourous gown.

Lupita Nyong’o
You can always rely on Lupita to pull out all the stops when on a red carpet, and this look was no different. The green mermaid gown by Calvin Klein was beautiful, ethereal and ethically made. But what made Lupita’s look so incredible this year was her tower of hair. Her stylist Vernon Francois’s creation turned heads and wrote headlines; if this is the future of natural hair, we can’t wait to see what’s next.
Zendaya
From Disney star to red carpet chameleon, Zendaya has never looked the same twice. Her gold studded dress was a sight to be seen; armour has never looked so fierce, and her brown and gold smoky eye added drama and definition. But what made Zendaya’s look so incredible was her bowl cut wig; who would have though page boy chic would work so well?
Karlie Kloss
Everyone’s favourite supermodel, Karlie Kloss looked preened and perfect in a cream Brandon Maxwell creation. The huge cut out sections kept the look youthful and fun; though Karlie made the ultimate white dress mistake: a wine stain. After the Gala ended, Karlie cut the dress so it skimmed her thighs so she could head over to an after party stain free!
