Seven Ways To Treat Dry, Dull Skin

Even if you’ve taken excellent care of your skin throughout winter there’s a chance that your complexion has still suffered. Freezing temperatures, cold bitter wind and dry indoor heat all take their toll on your skin and can leave it looking dry, flaky and dull. If your skin is in need of some serious TLC then here are seven ways you can get it back to its usual healthy self.

  1. Change Your Diet
Nourishing your skin from within will help to clear those stubborn, dry patches and give your complexion the glow it’s been lacking for the last few months. You should fill your plate with foods that have a moisturising effect on the skin like avocados, olive oil, walnuts, oily fish pumpkin, spinach, berries and plain yogurt. Make sure you’re also drinking plenty of water, keeping your skin hydrated will prevent it from looking dry.

  2. Exercise Regularly
Exercise has a fantastic effect on your complexion, it boosts circulation and banishes dullness. Remember to cleanse straight after your workout to remove pore-clogging sweat and oil, and prevent breakouts.

  3. Cool Showers
You may love your hot, steamy showers when the weather is feeling cold, but your skin does not. Spending too long under the hot water will dry out your skin and cause further damage. Try dialling back the temperature and limiting the time you spend in the shower. If you really can’t live without your long, hot shower then make sure you apply a moisturiser to damp skin straight afterwards to rehydrate.

  4. Hydrating Cleanser
Harsh, foaming cleansers are bad news for winter-worn skin, so switch things up and opt for creamy one instead. Try the Lift Off Purifying Cleanser which is formulated with hydrating ingredients to effectively remove traces of make-up, impurities and oil. This non-foaming cleanser is suitable for all skin types, and it improves circulation to promote a radiant glow.

  5. Exfoliate Regularly
When the weather gets colder and humidity levels drop, skin cells dry out and accumulate on the skin’s surface making your complexion look dull and tired. To combat this use the Lift Off Exfoliating Cleanser once or twice a week. It’s created with three deep-cleansing, non-irritating acids, lactic acid, tartaric acid and papaya enzyme, to gently slough off dead skin cells and reveal a radiant complexion.

  6. Layer Your Skincare Products
A moisturiser simply won’t cut it when it comes to dry skin, so now’s the time to incorporate some clever layering into your skincare routine. After cleansing apply a hydrating serum, like the Y Theorem Repair Serum, and then top with your night cream to lock in moisture. However don’t make the mistake of thinking that you can quickly combat dry skin by applying thicker layers of your serum and moisturiser, your skin can only absorb so much and you’re wasting product by applying too much.

  7. Boost Your Moisturiser
If your moisturiser isn’t getting the job done when it comes dry skin, then try boosting the power of your product. The Space Aqua Booster is formulated with two scientifically proven complexes to provide an instant hydration boost to the skin. Lactil mimics the skin’s natural moisturising factors while the hyaluronic acid complex increase’s the skin’s hydration levels by up to 30% in three hours. To use simply add one to two drops to your current favourite moisturiser and your skin will feel instantly better hydrated.
