SKINCARE INVESTMENT: SEASONAL SPRING CLEAN
By Nateisha Scott
The turn of the season can only mean one thing? A seasonal spring clean, like we would do for our wardrobes and put the heavier items in storage, the same can be said for your skincare. Warmer temperatures and longer days doesn’t just mean more time outdoors but it also means breathing a breathe of fresh air into your skincare and reviving the skin ready for the months approaching.
Your skincare investment for the month of march should be around stripping it back, peeling away the excess and detoxifying the skin.
DETOXIFY
Like we would do with our diets when we are feeling sluggish, you can detoxify the skin for the same refreshing result and this can simply mean using the bare essential products to allow for your skin to reset. When understanding the terms of a detox, it should focus on protecting the skin’s barrier and keep the skin looking healthy. Instead of focusing on “clearing out the skin from the inside out”, your skin detox should focus on protecting and strengthening the skin’s surface for optimal health.
The Reparative Collection is designed to strengthen and repair the skin, the perfect cocktail mix for overall optimum skin health. The NAC Y2 Restorative Cleansing Balm is a gel-balm cleanser that melts away any makeup and impurities, leaving the skin soft, supple and healthy. Following this with our NAC Y2 Pollution Defence Booster which fortifies the skin against environmental aggressors and other harmful factors that attack the skin’s barrier. Applied underneath your moisturiser or serum, this booster maintains a healthy and fortified complexion. Sealing this all in with the Y Theorem Serum, our original healing serum that protects and repairs stressed skin as well as visibly reducing the signs of fine lines and wrinkles.
STRIP IT BACK
Over winter you have applied Retinol Oil for you texture and played with richer formulations in your moisturisers to ensure the hydration of the skin but as we drive towards warmer climates, other steps can be implemented in order for your skin to reap the benefits. To reset the skin you want to peel back the amount of products you have built up with your arsenal over the last few months. Applying a gentle cleanser with little to active ingredients is recommended, the NAC Y2 Restorative Cleansing Balm is such a great solution for this as its gentle but effective.
Still hydrating the skin, applying a moisturiser is ideal whether the Y Theorem Day Cream or a lightweight emulsion such as the Y Theorem Day Cream Light NAC Y2 ( a lighter moisturiser) to protect the skin but keep it moisturised. This paired back routine should do wonders to your skin for a week or so and then slowly building products back into your routine will help reset and revive the skin but ensure you are applying your SPF daily in order to avoid damage from UVA and UVB rays.
PEEL IT BACK
A simple but effective way of spring cleaning the skin can come down to a peel. A Chemical Peel is ideal for those that want to not only improve skin tone and texture but it can reduce pigmentation, smooth the look of fine lines and wrinkles as well as stimulate new collagen for a healthy skin cell growth. An at home alternative would be the Celestial Black Diamond Multi Acid Accelerated Peel that has been formulated to accelerate the exfoliation process whilst brightening and firming the skin. As a mask, this plumps, refines and illuminates the complexion whilst delivering a blend of AHA acids into the skin with the aid of diamond particles.
Which stage you decide to undergo, your seasonal skin clean can officially be under way.
