MY CURRENT AT-HOME MORNING ROUTINE

MY CURRENT AT-HOME MORNING ROUTINE

MY CURRENT AT-HOME MORNING ROUTINE

By Eva Alexandridis

As we have to adjust our daily routines slightly, it has never been so important to me to incorporate a morning routine with my husband and sons. Believing in the power of a routine, I still start my mornings at 7am with a workout. I either workout with online fitness instructor Zuzka Light, her high intensity workout sessions are quick and effective, with a 10-minute warm up, 15 minutes of intense circuit training and a 10-minute cool down and as my sons are currently home-schooled, we often do these sessions together. If the weather permits, we take our workouts outdoor with either a long walk or run, bringing our dog Sparky with us for a family exercise session.

After working out, I have found that having a cold shower will not only energise my body but with proven scientific benefits, it bolsters my immune system, gives me clarity, reduces my stress levels and gives me a sense of awakening and energy. Especially now that 111CRYO in Harrods and Harvey Nichols is now closed and I can’t use the more advanced 3 minute system. I still find that I am getting dressed as if I am heading to the office, this certainly helps shift my mental focus in place for the day. When it comes to breakfast, we still sit and spend time together before we dive into the home school hours.

For breakfast we opt for orange juice to boost our vitamin c levels and a home-made acai bowl topped with chia seeds. To optimise our skin health, we also work supplements into our routine that will then help to boost and strengthen our immune system. I am currently taking a mix of supplements from probiotics and cinnamon to our Reparative Beauty Dose with increased levels of glutathione, vitamin A, C and E as well as coenzyme 10 to support healthy skin functions.

After breakfast, this is when the real work begins as we set the boys up with their home-school exercises, we then split our time between work and school. With the workday starting at 9am, I am on call to run through my many conference calls, some days I would have had 6 or 8 calls before lunch. From document exchanges, back and forth emails and jumping on team calls, the day can be over before I know it.

As our work culture is usually based in the office, our current working from home station can be quite challenging, especially when trying to meet deadlines. To ensure I stay calm, productive and alert, I often work outside on the terrace with good weather and apply an eye mask or face mask a few hours into my day to give my skin - especially my under eyes, the treat it needs to revitalise and reenergise. I am currently reaching for my Sub-Zero De-Puffing Energy Facial Mask as a way to revitalise and rejuvenate my complex, contouring and defining my complexion, it is the perfect afternoon pick me up. Fuelling my body as well as my skin, I come away from my screen for lunch and if time is limited, I snack on walnuts, fuji apples or share some toast with the kids.

Even though working from home can put some challenges in place, I think it is imperative to stick to a daily routine, incorporate exercise for a boost of mood, eat nutritiously and spend time with my family.

If you were to advise a London guide, what would be on your list?

Well, As I grew up in Notting Hill, it will always have my heart and if I was recommending spots in London, a wander around Notting Hill would be high up on my list. From there it would be all the best shopping destinations, the iconic private members club, Annabels, Harrods and Liberty’s for any cute and unique gifts. I would always pop into 111CRYO at Harrods for the Cryo Facial and treatment for the ultimate recharge. Sometimes the city is great, but the beautiful secrets of the English countryside is something that should be experienced.

Your In-Flight Essentials?

I don’t have a routine per say and I am certainly not as thorough as Naomi Campbell but I would apply the Meso Infusion Lip Duo and I would always wipe my phone down with anti-bacterial wipes, in fact I do this every day, the bacteria build up is no good for the skin.

In terms of Industry, where do you see the hair industry going?

Well Instagram has changed so much and has impacted the way we consume and learn within the industry, especially with so many creatives, but I still find that a massive amount of people come to the professionals to share the knowledge on how to carry out or complete a desired look, more than ever there is power behind ‘how-to’ videos.

A very valid point and in terms of 2020?

In terms of what we are to see in 2020, things are going to be super creative and we will see a wider awareness for people doing their own thing and it will be expressive and artistic. People will move away from the overtly glamorous looks and will create looks they can tailor to their everyday. As it’s currently Award Season which is the busiest time of the year leading up to the Met Ball, hairstyles are certainly more elaborate, and everyone loves an up do. I would say the most timeless look has to be the blunt bob, it comes around year on year, but it is effortless and timeless.

Outside of hair, what other industries are you into?

I am hugely into Interiors and I would describe my style as 60s/70s glamour, think elaborate and dramatic but I often fantasise about 80s Dallas and Joan Collins and I have to reign myself in. I also love Baking; it is the ultimate way to relax and I find that it is my meditation and therapy. If I’m in the USA I would bake a lot of cookies as everyone is obsessed with then over here and in the UK, I would bake more traditional styles like a lemon tart or an apple tart – it allows for me to be creative outside of my job.

Finally, the best advice you have ever received?

It would have to be from my grandfather, he would often say to me “it’s not how well you’re doing but how well people think you’re doing”. I haven’t successfully implemented it however you can look to Instagram today and people see our work and are blown away by it, but we can be so hard on ourselves and not appreciate our own work ourselves.

Even though working from home can put some challenges in place, I think it is imperative to stick to a daily routine, incorporate exercise for a boost of mood, eat nutritiously and spend time with my family.
