Here we are at the beginning of spring. She is clever, whimsical, coy; all the characteristics that drew me into the world of makeup and skincare, and ultimately the relationship between the two.

As most of us are confined to our homes right now, it’s timely to do a beauty product edit and look into the “flora” elements in your skincare. When I discovered 111SKIN and unearthed the plant and flower extracts that were used in the products, I was blown away by the natural efforts. The science behind 111SKIN has not been about conquering and dominating skincare but has been more focused on harnessing the wonder and power of the natural world. If you haven’t seen any short instructional videos by founder Dr. Yannis Alexandrides, you can find discover the power of these ingredients, they’re excellent!

The same philosophy of “conscience yielding” can be applied to our own faces. Harnessing the power in our natural beauty and using makeup and skincare as an act of kindness. Spring is the vessel of imagination and fresh perspective. Through application you are your self-care ritual, acknowledge what you find most beautiful about your face. From what I see and am inspired by is a classic winged eyeliner that is refreshed from black to cerulean. Spring skin comes alive with creamy palettes of petal pink popped on cheeks, lips and eyelids. Aubergine mascara or chartreuse and grass toned eyeshadows.

I'm challenged to look deeper in the hopes of discovering other faunas than the familiar ones. I will be using my social community to engage, discover and learn – join me @deannahaganmua and DM me with your ways of enrichment and betterment over the next few weeks.

What are your go-to faunas, characters or looks? how would you like to change them up?
