Treating Dry Skin

Don't let the weather effect your skin, combat dryness with these healing products.

We can all relate when our skin feels more sensitive, inflamed or irritated and as the cold season sets in, it can really affect the skin. Combatting this early will save your skin from the onslaught of dryness, itchiness and sore patches, with the perfect routine, we unravel how to combat dryness.

What is dry skin?

Dry skin becomes prominent when the skin doesn’t retain a sufficient amount of moisture. The cold weather poses as a harsher threat because the low humidity that exists indoors and outdoors means that the levels of water the epidermis needs to maintain a healthy skin barrier is reduced.

how to treat it?

The most important resolution for treating dry skin is to retain the moisture. Adding a rich moisturiser into your skincare routine is vital for hydrating the top layers of your skin cells and sealing in the moisture.

The Y Theorem Day Cream is infused with vitamins, antioxidants and Hyaluronic Acid, the formula was developed to strengthen, revitalise and hydrate the skin all the whilst protecting the skin from environmental damage. Generally, the thicker the moisturiser, the more effective the product is on dry skin. Another way of increasing the moisture in your skin is to retain what your body naturally produces. Using lukewarm water instead of hot water when showering will prohibit the water from stripping away the skin’s natural oily layer as well as avoiding alcohol products across your body and skin routine. Combined, these factors will keep your body’s natural oils and adding rich moisturisers immediately after your routine will seal any moisture and add to where your skin needs it

As Dry Skin can be linked to dead skin, we advise exfoliating the skin to rejuvenate the cells, the Celestial Black Diamond Multi-Acid Accelerated Peel is an enzymatic peel and physical exfoliant to polish, smooth and brighten the skin. Ensure you are not to rigorous on the skin as this can cause further irritation.

Your routine

111SKIN Facial Therapist, Nadya Kostova explains how to combat dryness with the ideal daily routine.

“I would advise cleansing the skin with the NAC Y2 Restorative Cleansing Balm as it is gentle enough for sensitive skin but with the hydrating balm texture it cleans the skin without causing dryness or irritation. Toning isn’t essential with dry skin concerns, but the Antioxidant Energising Essence balances the skin after cleansing but also provides instant hydration with the revitalising ingredients within the essence. I strongly advise a rich moisturiser and both our Y Theorem Day Cream, and the Nocturnal Eclipse Recovery Cream NAC Y2, as a night-time option works to hydrate the skin as well as restore volume, whilst stimulating cell regeneration”.

Gathering the essentials in your routine is important but added steps such as boosters and masks can work as a greater benefit to eradicating dryness as Nadya advises;

“Hyaluronic acid is great for boosting the skin’s hydration as it holds up to 1000x its weight in water, offering the hydration it needs. The Hyaluronic Acid Aqua Booster increases hydration levels by delivering a concentrated dose of hydrating ingredients deep into the skin’s layers, leaving the skin soft and supple. Adding the Y Theorem Bio Cellulose Facial Mask into your routine will condition the skin as the fibres instantly lock moisture into the skin enabling a deeper penetration”.

Therefore, continuing with a gentle cleanse, tone, booster and then moisturiser with the right ingredients before finishing off with a mask will ensure your skin is benefiting from as much moisture as it can get.
