4th of July holiday tips
Having both studied in America, Dr. Yannis as a reconstructive surgeon, and Eva in e-Commerce, American traditions have been a part of the 111SKIN story from the beginning. With 4th of July coming up this weekend the founders of the company share their favourite healthy Holiday tips as well as how to keep your skin healthy and glowing once the celebrations are over.
Independence Day is a fantastic reason to get everyone together and celebrate. Outside dining is one of Eva’s favourite activities, and is always a firm part of any holiday weekend. Inviting the team to their London terrace is an annual summer celebration, enjoying a barbeque if the British weather allows. Whether you decide to picnic, barbeque or visit your favourite al fresco restaurant, eating outside is a 4th of July staple. Though be mindful of the sun; even on typically British cloudy days the powerful rays can penetrate the skin. Always wear a high SPF to ensure sun damage is avoided.
It’s important to remember, however, that any outside exposure, no matter the powerful protection used, can still leave the skin tired, dehydrated and damaged. “Reach for deeply hydrating products to restore the skin’s natural glow,” recommends Dr. Yannis, “the Neck and Décolletage Serum is perfect for rewinding time on the fragile skin of this delicate area. For the face, try the Celestial Black Diamond Cream, an intensively hydrating, rich and luxurious overnight formula that will restore the complexions plump appearance. The Black Diamond particles penetrate the potent ingredients into the deeper layers of the dermis; by morning the skin is transformed.”
Deciding on what to eat during celebratory holiday weekends also has a real impact on the skin and complexion. “Our favourite American barbeque treat is a turkey meat burger topped with avocado and egg with whole wheat buns. Full of healthy fats and protein, this is a much healthier version of a usual American classic but just as delicious,” suggests Dr. Yannis. The skin benefits of avocado are countless, with the high levels of Vitamin C and Vitamin E, avocado acts as an anti-oxidant, protecting and plumping the skin from the inside. “Gluten free cake with piles of fruit is our not-so-naughty dessert that ensures the body is energised, not sluggish,” says Eva.
Keeping internally hydrated is vitally important too. For every celebratory drink consumed, follow up with a glass of water. This will not only stop those champagne bubbles from going to your head, but your glowing skin will thank you the next day. For an added refreshing boost after champagne-fuelled days, top up the skin with the Y Theorem Repair Light Serum. “Wear the Y Theorem Repair Light Serum daily to moisturise the skin, and keep it youthful even after long days outside” suggests Dr. Yannis, “it’s an ideal serum for the hot summer months, helping to reverse the signs of ageing whilst feel cool and refreshing on the skin.”
Holiday weekends are the perfect family time, where make up stays minimal and bare faces are the norm. “When we stay home as a family, I wear minimal make up and reach for relaxed and chic items from my wardrobe. Double denim is a stylishly relaxed ensemble, and also gives a nod to the All-American look, and I give my eyes a wide awake look with the Celestial Black Diamond Bio Cellulose Eye Mask – no need for concealer.” Throw on some daisy dukes, pair with Lanvin high-top sneakers and style the hair in a messy fishtail braid for a chic but nonchalant holiday weekend look. To brighten the complexion further reach for the Daily Orbit Energising Essence. Wipe the tonic over the skin to perk up a pallid complexion ensuring a light and energised skin with no need for make up.
From Eva, Dr Yannis, and the whole team, we wish you a very happy 4th of July.
