How To Let Your Natural Beauty Shine Through

We all love make-up. It makes us feel great, changes the way we look and its uses are endless. From finding a really fantastic concealer to cover those dark under-eye circles, to getting your brightest eyeshadow palette and creating a fun eye look for a party or slicking on a bit of red lipstick to really give you a confidence boost. Make-up can even change face-shape, thanks to a little bit of clever contouring work with some bronzer and highlighter. There’s no doubt about it, many of us would be lost without one item of make-up or another. Yet sometimes you fancy something a little bit lighter and more natural, but still with enough coverage to conceal the skin problems you don’t like.

The Starting Point
When it comes to achieving your perfect ‘no-make-up’ make-up look it all starts with what you have to work with. We don’t mean what range of products you have sitting in your make-up bag, but rather the condition of your skin. It’s true a concealer can do wonders at hiding dark circles and blemishes but if you’re not going to take care your skin, then your make-up can only take you so far. Exfoliating is the key step in achieving radiant skin, you just have to make sure you don’t overdo it. Exfoliating gets rid of dead skin cells which clog our pores and make our complexion look dull, yet because of the difference we see in our skin we’re often tempted to do it every day. Well don’t! Overdoing this step will actually irritate your skin, and you’ll find yourself with more redness to conceal. Try using our Lift Off Exfoliating Cleanser, it contains lactic acid, tartaric acid and papaya enzyme to exfoliate rather than large, rainy particles which can cause micro-wounds on the skin.

A Good Base
Before you apply any make-up you should prep you skin by applying a moisturiser. This may seem like a bad thing to do because surely your make-up will slide off faster, but the key is to pick the correct moisturiser and allow at 60 seconds for it to sink into your skin before you begin applying your base. Our Space Anti-Age Day Emulsion is designed to be lightweight so is the perfect moisturiser to use underneath your make-up – especially if you have naturally oily skin. Once you’ve allowed your moisturiser to sink into don’t forget to apply a primer as this will help keep your make-up in place as well. To allow your natural skin to shine through opt for a tinted moisturiser or BB cream in place of your normal foundation, they provide a more sheer coverage that covers imperfections without obviously looking like make-up. If you still have a few areas that you feel could do with boost, apply a little concealer.

Finishing Touches
Even when you’re wearing less make-up than you would normally, then you may still feel like you need a few finishing touches to just set the look off. Delicately flushed cheeks work well with clear, flawless skin. Try using a rosy-pink cream blusher on the apples of your cheeks for a healthy glow. If pink isn’t your thing then try a golden based highlighter instead, and use it on the areas of your face where the sun would naturally hit. Finish the whole thing with a slick of clear lipgloss and you’re good to go. Your perfect ‘no-make-up’ make-up look.
