The Hottest Summer Make-Up Looks You Need To Try Now

Summer usually brings warmer weather and we find ourselves drawn to brighter colours and cooler clothes. Changing your skincare regime is important for summer as it means your skin gets the best and most effective care, but why not try something new with your make-up as well? There are plenty of different looks to choose from, ranging from those with brightest and boldest colours, to more subtle takes on the new season. We've put together a list of our five favourite looks which will work all summer long.

1. Purple Make-up

Any shade of purple you can think of, from lilacs, orchids and lavender to plum and dark berry, is perfect for summer. During the daytime add a sweep of pale purple eyeshadow to your lid, and then amp up the look for the evening by applying more intense purple shades. A purple smokey eye look is incredibly wearable and easy to recreate. If you don't fancy purple on your eyes then look for a long-lasting plum lip stain instead that will take you from beach to bar. For a subtle take on the trend, simply apply a wash of colour to your nails in pastel purple.

2. Orange lips

This trend certainly packs a punch and in order to recreate this look you need to go for lipsticks in bright tangerines and corals. Keep the rest of your make-up simple and glowing, if you decide to wear any at all, and let this statement lip do the talking. The orange lip works best if you use a matte lipstick, but be careful it will show up every patch of dry, flaky skin so be sure to apply lashings of lip balm beforehand.

3. Golden Glow

We all know that spending too much time in the sun trying to achieve the perfect sunkissed glow is bad new for our skin, as it makes us more prone to wrinkles, fine lines and sagging, so why not fake this trend with some good bronzer application. Look for golden based bronzers and sweep them across your face in a '3' shaped motion, from your temple, along your cheekbone and along your jawline. If bronzer isn't really your thing then look for warm based blushers in corals and apricots to get your complexion glowing.

4. Aquatic Eyes

If you looking for a bold and bright look that will work all summer long be sure to pick up some blue eye shadow. Ease yourself into the look by swapping your black eye shadow for a rich blue and combining it with a grey one to create a new take on the classic smokey eye. If you're feeling braver, attempt an eyeliner flick with a royal blue liquid liner, if you love this look be sure to keep the rest of your make-up simple - we're talking a flush of pink blusher and a slick of clear lip balm. If subtlety is more your thing, line your waterline with a royal blue pencil and add lashing of black mascara, you'' just see a hint of colour which will brighten your eyes.

5. Barefaced Beauty

If all this bright make up really isn't your style then don't worry, the fresh-faced, less-is-more make-up look is perfect for summer. This look is less straight out of bed and more prepped and polished. Be sure to conceal any dark circles, redness or blemishes to achieve the perfect barefaced look. Curling your eyelashes is an easy way to add definition and make you look more awake. Finish your barely there look with a slick of clear lipgloss or nude lipstick.
