Five Juices You Can Make Now For Clearer Skin
Clear, radiant and flawless skin is the goal for most of us, but we still suffer from the odd imperfection here and there. While you may have your skincare routine sorted, with a great cleanser, toner, moisturiser and exfoliator, diet also plays a huge role in keeping our skin happy and healthy.
While juicing may be seen as the latest slimming craze, it’s actually a quick and easy way to add extra nutrients and antioxidants to our diets. These are vital for protecting our skin, and keeping it looking smoother and hydrated. We’ve put together a selection of juices with some of the best complexion-clearing ingredients. All you need is a juicer and, where possible, organic fruits and vegetables.
We've rounded up our top five favourite that we found online below:
1. All Clear
Fresh pineapple chunks
½ cucumber
½ apple
This sweet, fresh juice contains all the important ingredients to help cleanse your skin. Pineapple contains the enzyme bromelain which promotes good digestion and good skin, whilst apples and cucumbers help to purify the skin and keep it hydrated.
2. Green Lemonade
6 kale leaves
3 green apples
1 lemon
Small piece of ginger
The wonder vegetable of the moment, kale is packed with nutrients and vitamins. Lemon and ginger not only cut through the taste of greens but also help detoxify the body and help to balance its pH level.
3. Glowing Skin Juice
½ small red cabbage
1 medium beetroot
1 carrot
1 medium cucumber
Juice of 1 large orange
½ lime
Ginger to taste
Juicing a red cabbage may seem unusual, but like oranges and limes it is rich is vitamin C which helps to stimulate collagen production, and antioxidants which protect cells. Beetroot is also a powerful detoxifier, and is rich in copper and zinc to promote healthy skin.
4. Green Genie
2 apples
2 carrots
4 asparagus spears
Small handful of parsley
Ginger to taste
Green juices may not sound as appetizing as one packed with fruit, but the apples and ginger in this one help to cut through the vegetable taste. The Green Genie is antioxidant rich thanks to the beta-carotene rich carrots and the anti-inflammatory properties of the ginger.
5. Blueberry Juice
2 cups of blueberries
1 cup of strawberries
2 apples
2 cups of spinach
2 carrots
You will never be able to taste the vegetables in this juice but you’ll still be getting all the benefits of the antioxidant rich spinach, great for protecting cells and promoting healthy skin tone. Dark berries, like blueberries, are also rich in vitamin C which help keep your immune system healthy and your skin looking radiant.
Even if you can’t make your own juice at home, look out for fresh juices which contain any of these antioxidant and vitamin rich fruits and vegetables. You can get more juice inspiration here.
