Where to holiday in Winter

Spring may have sprung here in the UK, but sadly that doesn’t mean sunshine quite yet. If you’re searching for some of that powerful summer sun while the April showers drizzle down, look no further; we’ve compiled a list of the best places to head to when spring isn’t quite living up to expectations.

Maldives
For guaranteed heat all year round head to these luxurious islands. Set over 26 connected dots of land in the middle of the Indian Ocean, temperatures never drop below 25°c all year round. March is the hottest month with the heat creeping up to the high thirties, so now is the perfect time to book a last minute trip away.

New Zealand
For lovers of the outdoors, New Zealand is the perfect place to catch that summer sun in the depth of our winter. January and February are their hottest months with temperatures floating between the mid-20s and 30s. Head to the North Island for more consistent sun, beautiful beaches and perfect hiking locations.

Mauritius
This small island situated off the south coast of Africa is perfect for a mid-winter getaway. Temperatures never fall below 20°C even in their winter; but be sure to head down between November and March to make the most of the higher temperatures, soaring to the mid-30s in the northern regions.

Thailand
For the more adventurous travellers, or for those seeking some culture along with their sun, head to Thailand. Avoid the trashy and cliché Full Moon Parties of Koh Phangan, and head to quieter parts of the country, such as Krabi and Khao Lak, for more civilised and peaceful sun seeking. Thailand is steeped in history, culture, and fantastic temperatures all year round so don’t let the media horror stories put you off this great destination.

South Africa
With summer sitting between November and February, now is the best time to catch the tail end of the high temperatures. With almost two thousand miles of sandy coast, as well as some beautiful scenery, South Africa offers plenty for everyone. Plus it should go without saying that South Africa is the perfect place for a spot of Safari!
