111SKIN champions and celebrates game changers and innovators in leading industries. Each discussion uncovers the insight and knowledge into their individual approach and within the 111ICONS interview, we share their journey, business and approach to life.
111SKIN: Tell us a bit about what you do?
I finished university a couple of years ago and during that period I interned with a variety of fashion houses to educate myself on the vast range of roles that the world of fashion has on offer. I have had the honour and pleasure of working with brands I admire after finishing university and collaborating to create capsule collections whilst raising money for different charities through each project. I also write about travel, sustainable lifestyle and clothing which has been a huge joy.
111SKIN: How did you get into modelling?
Amelia: I definitely wouldn't call myself a model, I absolutely love it as you meet such amazing people and it's a lot of fun, but I have only done little bits here and there.
111SKIN: WHO HAS INSPIRED YOU AS YOUR CAREER HAS EVOLVED?
Amelia: Everyone I work with has inspired me, I feel truly blessed to have met some incredible people. Azzedine Alaïa was one of the kindest people I have ever met and I feel so honoured to have interned with him and his team just before he died. His legacy will last forever.
111SKIN: WhAT IS THE BEST PROJECT YOU HAVE WORKED ON AND WHY?
Amelia: I don't have a favourite, they have all been so special in their own way and I have learnt new things and met amazing people from each venture. It has been a dream to combine designing and collaborating with brands that I admire whilst also raising money for charities that I work with like Blue Marine Foundation and War Child.
111SKIN: What is in store for the future?
Amelia: I hope to continue to design products that have a care for the environment at the core of their creation. I hope to continue to write about sustainable lifestyle and fashion, as well as continue to educate myself and grow as a person whilst learning from inspirational people around the world who are doing amazing things to save the planet!
111SKIN: Outside of fashion, what other industries are you in to?
Amelia: I love travel and fitness; exercising is my therapy and a key part of my weekly routine. I am really eager to get into gardening and learn more about growing plants and vegetables. I have been obsessed with reading about it and following gardeners as well as farmers on Instagram throughout the past year and I would love to gain some skills - at this moment in time I am a complete novice.
111SKIN: TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR INVOLVEMENT WITH THE TALIA COLLECTIVE AND OTHER SUSTAINABLE BRANDS?
Amelia: Talia Collective in an online market place for sustainable brands as well as a brilliant journal with fascinating articles about ethical and more environmentally friendly fashion as well as climate change and the ways in which we as citizens can make a difference. It has been a pleasure to write for them about sustainable lifestyle tips like upcycling and a sustainable Christmas.
111SKIN: What is a typical "Day in the life" like for you?
Amelia: I get up early and make hot water with lemon and cayenne pepper and sit for a moment to let my body enter day mode. After having sufficiently woken, I write in my journal and then finally treat myself to a coffee before doing some exercise of some sort; whether that be pilates, yoga or HIIT. I'll hop in the shower to freshen up before getting to work either at home or out at meetings. If I have the time, I love to walk around London, listening music or a juicy podcast. Once I am home for the evening, I make some dinner whilst listening to radio 4 and then either be well behaved and read my book or watch some Netflix ( more like scrolling for hours trying to find something to watch before giving up). I jump into bed after washing my face properly at about 10 and that's me done for the day.
111SKIN: What is your morning routine?
Amelia: I wake up and have a big mug full of warm water with lemon and cayenne pepper, followed by a coffee soon after. I love to write in my journal or read my book before going to the gym or doing an online workout.
111SKIN: How do you wind down in the evening?
Amelia: I love to read my book after making some yummy food. I always listen to radio 4 whilst I cook and during the day, I live by myself so my radio is my best friend.
111SKIN: WHAT IS YOUR ON-THE-GO BEAUTY ESSENTIAL?
Amelia: 111SKIN Rose Gold Radiance Booster - it gives you a glow and a sparkle and immediately makes your skin look gorgeous.
111SKIN: How did you discover 111skin?
Amelia: I first discovered 111 after trying the Cryo chamber in Harvey Nichols. I had a facial afterwards and was amazed at the way the masks can give you such an 'after spa treatment' feel, from the comfort of your sofa! Making those endless Netflix searches that little less of a waste of time.
111SKIN: favourite 111skin product and why?
Amelia: I adore the clarity serum, it has dramatically improved my skin and the texture is so soft and luxurious to lather on your skin. You also don't need much at all and so it lasts a long time.
111SKIN: Finally, what advice would you give someone beginning their journey in the industry?
Amelia: Learn as much as you can from the people around you and be open to unexpected avenues. Make everyone feel appreciated as they rightly should be.

If you were to advise a London guide, what would be on your list?
Well, As I grew up in Notting Hill, it will always have my heart and if I was recommending spots in London, a wander around Notting Hill would be high up on my list. From there it would be all the best shopping destinations, the iconic private members club, Annabels, Harrods and Liberty’s for any cute and unique gifts. I would always pop into 111CRYO at Harrods for the Cryo Facial and treatment for the ultimate recharge. Sometimes the city is great, but the beautiful secrets of the English countryside is something that should be experienced.
Your In-Flight Essentials?
I don’t have a routine per say and I am certainly not as thorough as Naomi Campbell but I would apply the Meso Infusion Lip Duo and I would always wipe my phone down with anti-bacterial wipes, in fact I do this every day, the bacteria build up is no good for the skin.
In terms of Industry, where do you see the hair industry going?
Well Instagram has changed so much and has impacted the way we consume and learn within the industry, especially with so many creatives, but I still find that a massive amount of people come to the professionals to share the knowledge on how to carry out or complete a desired look, more than ever there is power behind ‘how-to’ videos.
A very valid point and in terms of 2020?
In terms of what we are to see in 2020, things are going to be super creative and we will see a wider awareness for people doing their own thing and it will be expressive and artistic. People will move away from the overtly glamorous looks and will create looks they can tailor to their everyday. As it’s currently Award Season which is the busiest time of the year leading up to the Met Ball, hairstyles are certainly more elaborate, and everyone loves an up do. I would say the most timeless look has to be the blunt bob, it comes around year on year, but it is effortless and timeless.
Outside of hair, what other industries are you into?
I am hugely into Interiors and I would describe my style as 60s/70s glamour, think elaborate and dramatic but I often fantasise about 80s Dallas and Joan Collins and I have to reign myself in. I also love Baking; it is the ultimate way to relax and I find that it is my meditation and therapy. If I’m in the USA I would bake a lot of cookies as everyone is obsessed with then over here and in the UK, I would bake more traditional styles like a lemon tart or an apple tart – it allows for me to be creative outside of my job.
Finally, the best advice you have ever received?
It would have to be from my grandfather, he would often say to me “it’s not how well you’re doing but how well people think you’re doing”. I haven’t successfully implemented it however you can look to Instagram today and people see our work and are blown away by it, but we can be so hard on ourselves and not appreciate our own work ourselves.
